This indoor mural spans across a large wall and the emergency exit door in the dining area of Wabisabi, a sushi restaurant in Hove. This hand-painted mural by Megu Ueda combines Japanese tradition with a modern, playful twist. The artwork features a Geisha who appears to have landed on Brighton's beaches. She extends a sake flask and cup toward diners, inviting them to share a drink in her company. Behind her, two large crane-like wings spread, while a large, glowing sun rises behind her. Her vibrant, multi-colored kimono is adorned with intricate patterns inspired by traditional Japanese textiles, with camellia flowers in two unique designs. On the left is an interpretation of the famous Great Wave Ukiyo-e painting, which is painted on the exit door.
